Texas man killed in truck accident, 2 others injured

No matter where you live, whether in Texas or elsewhere, Interstate driving can be a frightening experience, particularly if a car experiences mechanical issues. Those left stranded on the side of a road, or who have to drive slower than posted speeds in order to get to the next exit, often find themselves in a dangerous situation. This type of incident appeared to be the case in a recent truck accident that claimed the life of one man and left two others injured.

A semi-trailer reportedly slammed into the rear-end of a vehicle on Interstate 20 in El Paso earlier this month. According to reports, the hazard lights were activated, and smoke was coming from the vehicle before it was struck by the big rig. The driver of the car, a 58-year-old man, was killed in the collision. His passenger was transported to a hospital in Pecos for treatment.

The truck driver was also injured in the crash and required medical attention. According to officials, the semi driver failed to properly control the speed of the truck and ultimately collided with the victim's car. At this time, it is unknown if any formal charges are pending regarding this incident.

A truck accident that results in injury and/or fatality can leave victims and their families struggling in many ways. Emotional and physical trauma are very real issues in these incidents, as is the financial strain that generally accompanies the associated medical expenses, funeral costs, lost wages and other losses suffered. Victims of these accidents, or their surviving family members, may be entitled to take legal action against the person or person's deemed responsible. In this particular case, civil claims may be filed against not only the truck driver, but possibly the driver's employer as well. If liability is established in a Texas civil court, compensation may be granted for the damages encountered.
