Texas man injured in motorcycle accident

Driving any type of vehicle isn't without risk, although some are considered more dangerous than others. For instance, a motorcycle rider is more likely to be injured -- or worse -- in an accident than drivers or passengers in other types of vehicles. A recent motorcycle accident in Texas serves as an example of the type of damages motorcycle riders may suffer if an accident does occur.

Local law enforcement in El Paso are still investigating an incident between a motorcycle and an SUV that left the motorcyclist critically injured. According to police, the driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old female, supposedly made a left-hand turn in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the SUV, and the rider -- a 23-year-old male -- was thrown from his bike. He was transported for medical care, but the extent of his injuries is unknown.

The driver of the SUV and her two passengers were uninjured in the incident. At this time police have not released any further details regarding this crash. It is unknown if any charges are pending in this case.

A motorcycle accident that results in critical injuries will require the need for emergent and, in some cases, long-term medical care. This also means those injured will spend precious time away from family and work obligations in order to heal. The financial, physical and emotional costs of these injuries can simply seem overwhelming and too much to bear alone. The young man injured in this particular case retains the right to file a personal injury claim against the driver believed responsible for the crash. If liability is established, a Texas civil court may award the victim monetary compensation for any financial losses he encounters as a result of the collision and to provide for the pain and suffering he has endured.
