Injuries suffered in hit-and-run accidents are often significant

A Texas woman is recovering in the hospital following an accident earlier this month. As with most hit-and-run accidents, the injuries this individual is said to have suffered are quite significant. The person believed responsible for this crash was reportedly caught and detained by witnesses to the crash.

According to local authorities in Waco, a female -- who is believed to be in her 20s -- was struck by a vehicle while she was crossing a street. She reportedly suffered serious injuries in the incident and was transported to a nearby hospital for care. Her current condition has not been reported.

The driver deemed responsible for this crash, a 43-year-old male, supposedly fled the scene and struck another vehicle in the process. He then reportedly tried to leave the scene on foot but was apprehended by witnesses to these events. This individual is facing several charges for the accidents, including driving under the influence, intoxicated assault and failure to stop.

Hit-and-run accidents, like this one, can leave victims with injuries that extend beyond any physical suffering. While the victim in this case may have a long and difficult physical recovery ahead of her, she will likely face emotional and financial distress as well. Texas residents who have been injured in an accident do not have to suffer through it alone. Personal injury claims can be made against the person thought responsible and -- if these claims are successfully litigated -- economic relief may be awarded. As every case is different, any compensation amounts may vary but is typically based on the current and projected future losses directly associated with the accident.
