13 people injured in Texas truck accident

There is no debating the seriousness of an accident that involves a large truck -- whether that vehicle is a semi truck, utility truck or other type of vehicle used for hauling purposes. In the event of an accident, the pure size and weight of a truck can cause significant damage even at a low speed. Unfortunately, Texas residents have seen or been involved in their fair share of accidents with these motor vehicles. Most recently, 13 individuals suffered injuries in a truck accident, the majority of those injured being children.

A bus carrying 11 children and two adults was rear-ended by a utility truck that was hauling a crane. This accident occurred in a town just a short drive south of Austin. According to reports, the bus was stopped in order to drop off students when the truck crashed into it. In total, 10 of the students and both adults who were on board the bus were transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. One child was released to his or her parents at the crash site.

The truck driver also suffered serious injuries in the wreck. Local police are still investigating this incident. They do not believe weather or speed played a role in this collision. At this time, it has not been indicated if the driver believed responsible for this incident will face any criminal charges.

The current conditions of the victims of this truck accident have not been reported, and the injuries suffered by each were unspecified. While the status of these individuals may be unknown, the physical, emotional and financial damages an accident like this can cause can be devastating. The injured adults and the parents of the children involved in this crash may pursue legal remedies in order to seek compensation for the economic losses this incident has caused, as well as for any non-economic damages recoverable under applicable state laws. If pursued, personal injury claims against the truck driver and his employer would be filed and litigated in a Texas civil court.
