Truck accident results in hazmat spill and lane closure

On any given day, the drivers of big rigs spend countless hours behind the wheel, traveling hundreds of miles throughout the state of Texas, before reaching their destinations. While most drivers make it to their destination unharmed, others are not so fortunate. In a recent truck accident, one trucker lost his life and another was injured after two trucks collided.

During the early morning hours, an 18-wheeler stopped on the right shoulder was hit in the rear by another tractor-trailer on the Katy Freeway. Multiple lanes were closed as hazmat teams worked to clean up diesel fuel that was spilled as a result of the accident. Crews were also sent to the scene to remove cargo from one truck before moving it out of the way. Both the morning and afternoon commutes were affected by the accident.

Accidents involving big rigs can be extremely dangerous, especially if a truck contains hazardous or flammable materials or other dangerous cargo. The family of the deceased truck driver in this accident may be eligible to file a claim, not only against the truck driver believed to have been at fault, but also against the trucker's employer. With quick action, the deceased victim's family may able to recover monetary damages incurred as a result of the accident.

Losing a loved one is never easy, especially when the death could have been avoided. With the help of experienced legal counsel, Texas truck drivers injured in a truck accident or the families of a deceased loved one may be able to achieve the financial relief they deserve, including applicable workers' compensation survivors' benefits. While financial compensation may not ease the pain of losing a loved one, it can help to support the family through such a difficult time.
