4 killed in Texas truck accident

Texas authorities are investigating a recent crash between a semi and an SUV that claimed several lives. The truck accident reportedly occurred on Oct. 5, in Dallas County. Investigators have yet to indicate what may have led to the collision.

This particular accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on a ramp between Interstate 20 and Interstate 35E. For reasons unknown, the driver of a semi -- a 58-year-old man -- crashed his truck into a sport utility vehicle, causing both vehicles to catch on fire. All of the occupants of the SUV, two adults and two children, were killed in the wreck. It is believed that one of the victims was also pregnant.

This incident resulted in the interchange being closed for several hours while clean up crews and investigators worked to clear the scene and investigate the accident. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to please contact the investigative team. At this time, the driver believed responsible for the wreck has not been charged for the incident.

A fatal truck accident like this is bound to bring up quite a few questions. The trucking industry is heavily regulated, so it is understandable for surviving family members to question whether violations of any regulations contributed to their loved ones' deaths. In this particular case, the trucking company involved in this matter is believed to have several violations on record. Legal actions may be taken and if negligence can be established against the driver or his employer, a Texas civil court may grant the victims' loved ones full compensation for their losses.
