Texas man facing charges for car accident that injured teens

One of the many nightmare scenarios that runs through a parent's mind includes finding out their child has been hurt in an accident. Sadly, what seemed like the typical end to a school day for two Texas teens, ended in a horrible car accident that sent both to a hospital. This auto-pedestrian accident was the unfortunate result of a man apparently failing to stop for a school bus.

Shortly after getting off their school bus and standing near their driveway, both teens were struck and pinned underneath a pickup truck. The teens, a brother and sister, were both transported to a local medical center for treatment. Exact injuries have not been reported, however, their current condition is stated to be alert and talking.

The driver of the truck claims he didn't see the stopped school bus. Just before the accident he apparently hit his brakes, causing him to lose control of his truck and the trailer he was pulling, hitting both teenagers as a result. He is facing several traffic violations charges for the accident and according to local authorities more charges may be filed. This incident is still being investigated by the local police.

An auto-pedestrian accident can have devastating results. While, thankfully, both teenagers in this incident survived, they are left with physical and most likely psychological injuries that will require care. Care and rehabilitation after a car accident can be time-consuming and costly. Personal injury claims may be filed for each victim in an effort to recoup the financial loss that medical expenses can create. If the driver of the truck is found liable for the accident, a Texas civil court could grant the victims financial restitution for their injuries, pain and suffering and current and future medical expenses that may result from the crash.
