Hundreds join event begun to honor Texas bicycle accident victim

An event that was started in 2003 to honor a cyclist who was hit and killed by a school bus has grown exponentially over the past years. The grassroots "Ride of Silence" event now includes people from all over the world. They ride on the same night to remember and raise awareness of those who have been killed or injured in a bicycle accident. Hundreds recently joined the ride in the Dallas, Texas area, where the first ride took place those many years ago.

A motorcycle accident claims 1 life per day in Texas

During the summer months, the roads and highways around the country will be occupied by an increased number of motorcycle riders. This, in conjunction with the seasonal increase of travelers in general, will result in more motorcycle accidents, and fatalities as a result of those crashes. In Texas, the Department of Transportation has launched a campaign to increase driver awareness of motorcyclists as they share the road, and will hopefully reduce the number of deaths from a motorcycle accident.

Texas DUI wrecks result in fatal motorcycle accident

Texas highways can be hazardous for drivers enclosed in the largest of vehicles, but motorcyclists are especially in danger. They are easy to miss by other drivers under even the most perfect weather and road conditions.  However, when a motorcycle accident is caused by an impaired driver on a crowded freeway, tragic results generally occur.

Texas DUI truck accident kills three, injures one

Because drivers of 18-wheelers are on the road so much and are often rigorously tested for drugs and other substances, most people feel that they are generally safe drivers. However, when a truck driver does get behind the wheel while impaired, the risk of someone dying from an accident increases exponentially. Tractor trailers are complicated to drive and difficult to stop, and their size makes it easy for the driver to miss smaller vehicles on the road. A recent truck accident in Texas demonstrates the devastation of such a wreck.
